Green LED construction?

Main Post:

I have a bunch of green LEDs and I learnt that green LEDs are the least efficient, so to be more efficient they can be made by phosphor conversion just like it's done with white LEDs, I wanted to know if my LEDs were direct diodes or phosphor converted UV/blue LEDs so i shone a 365nm UV LED into the LED and the chip glowed green: it's just that the semiconductor happens to be fluorescent or it comes from a phosphor on top of it? I'm asking because if I shine violet/UV/blue light into a white LED its phosphor, as expected, lights up so I wondered if I can use the same approach to tell apart direct and phosphor-based LEDs

Top Comment: I would expect to differentiate them by their forward voltages. Intrinsic green LEDs are made from GaP with a forward voltage of around 2.1 V, 2.2 V while phosphor-converted LEDs are based on GaN with a forward voltage of around 3.5 V.

What's the advantage of a green or red LED in a flashlight like the K1?

Main Post: What's the advantage of a green or red LED in a flashlight like the K1?

Top Comment: In addition to The first comment - for those who may not be aware. Our eyes are pretty incredible. Our eyes begin to produce rhodopsin when they're not exposed to white light. Rhodopsin makes the rods in our eyes more sensitive. After apx. 30 minutes of little too no white light our eyes become much better at distinguishing things in low light situations. We have a natural 'night vision' because of the way rhodopsin causes the rods to become more sensitive. Using a red or a green light doesn't cause the rhodopsin to dissipate, but using a white light does. If you don't want to rely on a light source for an extended period of time after sundown, red or green is the best way to keep yourself from having to replenish the rhodopsin and temporarily ruin/reset your night vision.

I think the real amazing thing here is seeing Logitech support typing "PM_ME_KNEEGROWS".

Flashing green then red LED

Main Post:

I was trying to install the autobleem 9.0 kernal, but it said mine was not stock so I tried to restore it from the menu and now the classic is basically bricked

The LED is flashing green and then red. I tried holding the power/open/reset button combinations and nothing.

I tried all the steps on the PSCToolkit (installed all the drivers, updated them, etc.) and the fastboot trick bridging the ports is not working at all

Top Comment:

Has it been modded with a bleemsync or project eris kernel before you tried to restore?

Call to CORSAIR to address green LED failures on their QL120 series fans

Main Post: Call to CORSAIR to address green LED failures on their QL120 series fans

Top Comment:

Research through a few common forums, I have found that there are MANY QL120 fans with failed green LEDs. Some customers have MORE than one fan with this problem, including me. In fact, I have one with TWO green LEDs out.

CORSAIR, make this issue known publicly and RECALL these fans! Make the process easy to replace them and pay for the return shipping.

UPDATE: PISSED!!! My third fan has stated exhibiting the same behavior, JUST TODAY. It starts with them failing intermittently and then become permanent. So, as of now, fan 1 has 1 permanently bad LED, fan 2 has 1 permanently out with 2 OTHERS that are intermittent, the 3rd has one that is only intermittent at the moment. Geeez😒

Danny Green claimed the, Lebron led, 2020 Lakers were “the most fun team he ever had off the court, by far”

Truly terrible leadership by Lebron. But what does Danny Green know, he only played on the Tim/Pop spurs. But I’m sure Russillo knows more than him.

MIYOO Mini Plus green LED

Main Post:

I notice in pics of the transparent purple version that the green LED on top of the screen is quite visible. I find it very annoying. On the other hand, I cannot see this LED in pics of the transparent black version. Is it also visible?

MIYOO, via Aliexpress, told me that the next batch of Mini Pluses will be ready end of the month. I like the transparent black version but, if the green LED is visible, I would rather go for one of the solid colours.

Green led is very much visible on a black. Tho I’m not sure why is it an issue? Can’t we just turn of the devise instead on sleeping mode?) any proms and cons of that?)

Willem Dafoe: Green Goblin Mask Criticisms Probably Led to ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Redesign

Main Post: Willem Dafoe: Green Goblin Mask Criticisms Probably Led to ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Redesign

Top Comment: I would've loved to see more of the mask but seeing Dafoe's face uncovered and expressive was perfect for this film. The scene where he cackles as Peter punches him, the wide, creepy expressions, that man is the Goblin

Plant diversity in urban green spaces led to sevenfold increase in insect species, study finds

Main Post: Plant diversity in urban green spaces led to sevenfold increase in insect species, study finds

Top Comment:

If you plant native plants wildlife will come back to your property. Insects are essential to getting plant energy back into the food web. "They identified 94 insect species in total, 91 indigenous to the Australian state of Victoria. The researchers estimated that by the final year of the study there were about 7.3 times more insect species than originally present, even though only nine plant species remained."

Logitech Circle 2 Led Fast Blinking Green

Main Post:

My Circle 2 stopped responding in Home app. Trying to reset the camera and add wasn’t working no matter how many seconds I held down the reset button for. Tried every possible combination from 5 seconds to 60 seconds, no luck. The led would always turn to fast blinking green after scanning the code and selecting the camera.

Finally found this post from from u/klovsz which worked the first time. Couldn’t upvote that post so posting this with thanks to klovsz in case anyone else runs into the fast blinking green led issue.

Top Comment: Looks like this is an older post, but I was having this problem and wanted to share the steps that worked for me. Through various troubleshooting, I discovered that I could successfully add my camera if I created a new home. The Home app lets you have multiple homes, so there is no need to remove your existing home... Create a new home in the Home app and add your camera to it. If you can successfully add the camera to the new home, wait for the camera to update its firmware (8.2.64 is the latest as of now). Not sure if this step is necessary, but it's what I did. Any time after the camera updates, remove the camera from the new home in the Home app. DO NOT reset the camera by holding down the button on the back! When the camera is finished being removed, the status light should be solid green. Immediately attempt to add the camera to your main home. For me, it added instantly, probably because it already had the wifi credentials stored. I think the key step here is to NOT reset the camera after removing it from the newly created home. Hope this helps!

VintaGlo LED minilights

Main Post:

Disclaimer: this is not sponsored by anyone, I'm not a professional lighting guy and I have very limited knowledge of electricity. I'm just some guy and I like these lights.

Here's three strands of VintaGlo LED minilights on a very old 6' artificial tree I got secondhand over a decade ago, and a quick phone picture to show the temperature of the lights before I add slow twinkle lights over them.

You can see in the background some random other multicolor LED strands, and in the window reflection you can see some random multicolor-warm-white-cycling LED icicle lights down my hallway,

and compared with all those, the VintaGlo are pretty clearly warmer! The amber yellow is the strongest, the blue is a nice tone and the green is a nice leafy forest green instead of a laser neon green, thank goodness. The red is comparable to other LED sets I have, but I was interested to find that the LED under the cap is actually pink!

Stats from the box:

100 mini lights, four colors in the "Yule Multi" colorway, indoor/outdoor, 110-125V AC, 37 foot lighted length, 4" (4.5"?) spacing with a 4.5" lead on either end, connectable end to end up to 48 sets, two spare bulbs and two fuses included. There's some little additional plastic barrels here and there along the strands, which I assume are full of antiflicker magic, but I don't actually know what they're called.

One nice touch: The packaging is just the box, two twist ties and a little paper envelope with the spare bulbs. No extra plastic to throw away. Nice!
